GREEN BAY, WI— All but one of UntitledTown Book and Author Festival’s 118 events are free and open to the public. The Festival takes place in several downtown Green Bay venues on April 25-28, 2019. Trolleys will provide transportation.
New and Notable in 2019
Veterans of all eras are invited to participate in several free “Writing the Veteran’s Experience” workshops. The stories of veterans are also the subject of a panel featuring journalists who chronicled the historic Old Glory Honor Flight: “Return to Nam.”
Popular free youth writing workshops have been increased in 2019. Altogether, 27 free and open workshops will be offered on topics such as writing poetry, family histories, memoirs, and printmaking—along with 90+ free readings and talks for all ages, experiences, and expertise.

-a discussion of “What Writing Can Learn from Medicine”
– a talk by musician Simon Tam on Slanted: How an Asian American Troublemaker Took on the Supreme Court
-a presentation by the United ReSISTERs, a local organization of young, female, African refugee voices
-a birthday party for Miranda Paul’s forthcoming picture book Nine Months
-a full day of history presented by authors in the Wisconsin Historical Society Press
-a discussion by author J.P. Leary on Act 31: How Native History Came to Wisconsin Classrooms
-a presentation on “How to Really Save the Bees” by Humane Gardner Nancy Lawson
Tickets and Registration
Some events require (free) tickets or registration to guarantee seats. Events by Festival headliners require tickets for admission. Headliners for 2019 include Susan Orlean, Walter Mosley, Andrea Gibson, Jamie Ford, Rebecca Makkai, Nick Butler, and William Kent Krueger.
Registration is required for all free youth writing workshops. Workshops are available for elementary, middle grade, and high school writers and include a session with Wisconsin Poet Laureate Peggy Rozga.
